Rollover To Zoom
Boone County Distilling Co. revived a name that had been silent in northern Kentucky since Prohibition, distilling on the Ohio River in Petersburg under the tagline "Made By Ghosts." Their flagship Small Batch is a blend of barrels aged five to fourteen years, bottled at 90.8 proof in a bottle shape modeled on a 200-year-old Kentucky flask.
Note: this specific expression is not currently OU-certified — Boone County's OU line covers Eighteen33 10-Year, Bourbon Cream, and Tanner's Curse. Please verify your own kashrut standard.
Mood: Copper, elegant, balanced.
"A quietly polished Kentucky pour — restraint, not muscle."
Tasting Notes
Aged oak, vanilla, sweet almond, and a top note of sugar-cookie dough. An elegant roundness carries sweet oak, caramel, vanilla, and biscuit-like almond across the mid-palate. A dash of aged rye and a pinch of cinnamon on the exit — clean, warm, unhurried.
Food Pairing
Serve neat, over a large cube, or in a classic Manhattan. Match with smoked brisket, pecan pie, aged cheddar, or a good cigar on the porch.
