The Wine Atlas

Georgia

18 bottles

Georgia has been making wine for roughly 8,000 years, and its reds are built for the way Jewish tables actually eat — sweet enough for Kiddush, dry enough for dinner. Everything on this page is kosher, in mevushal and non-mevushal bottlings.

Start with Saperavi, the flagship red grape, or go straight to the named appellations: Kindzmarauli (semi-sweet), Mukuzani (dry, oak-aged), Pirosmani and Alazani Valley. Whites include Tsinandali and Tsolikouri, and there is Chacha, the Georgian grape brandy.

Producers: Georgian Royal Wine (GRW), Shimon & Company and Palavani.
