Rollover To Zoom
GRW Pirosmani is a classic Georgian semi-dry red from Georgian Royal Wine, made from Saperavi grown in the Kakheti region. Soft tannins, lush dark fruit, and a touch of natural sweetness — the everyday red of Georgia, in a properly kosher bottling.
A crowd-pleaser for guests who don't drink dry, and a faithful partner to slow-cooked meat and stews.
Sommelier note — The Pirosmani style — named for the Georgian folk painter Niko Pirosmani — is a juicier, more fruit-forward way of vinifying Saperavi, Georgia's signature red grape. Kakheti, in the country's east, is where the best Saperavi grows. GRW (the Karalashvili family's winery) carries OU and Badatz Belz certification.
Tasting & Flavor Notes
Dark ruby in the glass. Ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum on the nose with a subtle earthiness and a hint of sweet tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy, lightly off-dry, with very soft tannins providing easy-drinking structure.
Pairing
Grilled veal, stewed beef, lamb kebabs, brisket, stuffed cabbage, cholent, or a cheese board with aged hard cheeses.
