Rollover To Zoom
Pinotage is South Africa's signature grape — a Cinsault × Pinot Noir cross bred in 1925 at Stellenbosch. Cape Jewel's Western Cape version is fruit-forward, lightly smoky, and certified mevushal for the Shabbos table.
Mood: smoky, bold, weeknight.
"Pinotage at this price is rarely this clean — ripe blackberry up front, a curl of woodsmoke on the back palate. Built for grilled meat."
Tasting notes
Blackberry, dark plum, and ripe black cherry lead the nose with a hint of cured tobacco. The palate is round and fruit-driven with soft, sun-ripened tannins. A smoky, savory finish lingers without weight.
Food pairing
Made for the grill — brisket, smoked lamb chops, kebabs, and barbecue. Equally good with cholent on Shabbos day or a midweek burger.
