Rollover To Zoom
Captain Morgan Tattoo is a dark, lower-proof Puerto Rican spiced rum that Diageo introduced in 2005 and quietly discontinued around 2012. Built to push back at Jägermeister in the bold-shot category, it pairs aged Puerto Rican rum with a cola-nut-and-bark spice blend that drinks closer to root beer than to a classic spiced rum.
Mood: dark, herbal, nostalgic.
“A discontinued curio worth keeping on the shelf — inky, sweet-bitter, and unmistakably of its era.”
Tasting Notes
Aromas of dark molasses, cherry cola, and burnt orange peel with a backbone of bittersweet bark. The palate is viscous and sweet up front — vanilla, root beer, and dried cherry — then turns herbal with ginger, cola nut, and a touch of anise. The finish is warm and lingering, more bitter-amaro than tropical rum.
Food Pairing
Built for shots and shaken cocktails outside the kosher home — think cola highballs, ginger beer mules, or as a dark float over an espresso martini. For non-kosher events or cocktail-bar use only; not appropriate for kiddush, yom tov, or any kosher table.
