Rollover To Zoom
Coalition is Shirah's annual study of unusual Italian grapes that few kosher wineries touch — Sagrantino, Aglianico, Freisa, and a splash of Mourvèdre, all from Monterey County. Powerful, structured, and built to age, with the texture of new French oak underneath.
Mood: Bold, structured, ambitious.
Sommelier’s note
“A wine for the geek at the table. Decant it, slow down, and let the Sagrantino tannins unwind.”
Tasting notes
Black cherry, dried fig, leather, baking spice, and dark florals. Full-bodied; dense black fruit, mineral grip, savory herbs, firm tannin. Long, dry, dusty — cellarable.
Pairing
Dry-aged steak, lamb shoulder, wild mushroom risotto, aged hard cheese.
