Rollover To Zoom
A wine that started as Lodi old-vine Zinfandel, then took a side trip. Aged twelve months in oak, then finished in sorghum-whiskey barrels — pulling smoke, caramel, and a soft maple lick into a kosher bottle that drinks like a steakhouse pour.
Mood: Smoky, sweet, unexpected.
Sommelier’s note
“If bourbon and Zinfandel had a baby, this is it. Don't serve it to the table that wanted a Bartenura.”
Tasting notes
Black cherry, char, vanilla, dried herb, a thread of smoke. Plush and rich; blackberry jam, caramel, maple, toasted barrel spice. Long, warm, faintly smoky-sweet.
Pairing
Smoked brisket, BBQ ribs, pastrami, sharp aged cheddar, or a dark-chocolate dessert.
