Joe Hurliman leans into the easy side of California - Petite Sirah for guts, old-vine Zinfandel for spice, a whisper of Muscat to round the edges. Mevushal under OU, so it pours just as happily at a kiddush as at a Tuesday-night dinner.
Tasting notes
Ripe black cherry, fresh blackberry, and a lift of crushed raspberry over a faint baking-spice warmth. Generous and round, with plum, blueberry compote, and a brush of cocoa; the Muscat threads in a soft floral sweetness without tipping into dessert. Soft tannins and a gently sweet berry finish that lingers without weighing the glass down.
Food pairing
Roast chicken with schmaltz potatoes, deli pastrami sandwiches, or a Shabbos lunch cholent.
