Rollover To Zoom
Rubrato is Feudi di San Gregorio's everyday Aglianico from Irpinia in Campania, the same regal red grape that powers Taurasi. Younger, friendlier, and priced to open on a random Tuesday.
Mood: Ripe. Southern. Everyday.
Tasting notes
The nose lifts ripe black cherry, plum, and a soft note of dried herbs de Provence over a light spice edge. The palate is medium-to-full bodied and structured, with dark-fruit weight, a whisper of leather, and Aglianico's classic firm tannin carried on a Mediterranean warmth. The finish is long and clean, with a lingering dark-fruit note and a subtle earth grip.
Food pairing
A natural for slow-braised lamb, brisket, roast duck, and Sicilian-style meats. Also comfortable with hard aged cheeses and mushroom-heavy dishes.
