Rollover To Zoom
A small-production Judean Hills Merlot from a winery that shares a hilltop in Ofra with Tanya - boutique scale, serious intent.
Mood: The bottle for the guest who knows Israeli wine and wants to see what the small houses are doing.
Our sommelier says
Deep ruby. The nose is classic Merlot - plum, black cherry, a wisp of cocoa - with the dried-herb signature the Judean Hills puts on everything that grows there. The palate is medium-to-full, with rounded tannin from time in French oak and a fruit core that hasn't been pushed past balance. This is the quiet boutique style: nothing oversized, everything in proportion. Drinks well now, will hold a few years.
Tasting notes
Plum, black cherry, cocoa, dried herb. Medium-to-full body, rounded tannin, plum and cherry core, oak-framed. Persistent, gently savory.
Food pairing
Roast lamb, beef brisket, mushroom dishes, aged hard cheese (after the wait).
