Rollover To Zoom
Gamla Merlot is Golan Heights Winery's everyday Israeli Merlot — Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown in the cool, high-altitude vineyards of the Golan, then aged in mostly French oak. Approachable, elegant, and built for the Shabbos table.
A go-to red for grilled meats, slow-braised brisket, or a wide-open Tuesday night.
Sommelier note — Golan Heights Winery has been quietly making Merlot at a serious level since the mid-1980s. Gamla is the line where their expertise reaches everyday price points — drinkable now, with enough structure to age four to seven years from vintage.
Tasting & Flavor Notes
Medium to full body with gently gripping tannins. Black fruit and vanilla on the nose lead into raspberry, cherry, and a layer of plum on the palate, with hints of orange blossom, sweet spice, earth, and roasted coffee from oak. Smooth, flavorful, with a structured finish.
Pairing
Grilled steak, lamb chops, slow-braised brisket, roasted duck, hard cheeses, mushroom risotto, or any meat-forward Shabbos meal.
