Matar is the kosher sister label of Pelter Winery, made next door in Ein Zivan under full Orthodox Union supervision. Stratus is 100% Shiraz from hand-picked Upper Galilee fruit, aged fourteen months in French oak.
Mood: Ripe, layered, polished
Our sommelier says
One of the more serious kosher Shirazes coming out of the Golan.
Tasting notes
Ripe raspberry, cocoa, black pepper, French-oak vanilla. Concentrated red and black fruit, dark chocolate, supple tannin. Long, smooth, with a pleasant cocoa-spice fade.
Food pairing
Grilled lamb, hard aged cheese, smoked brisket, dark chocolate.
