Rollover To Zoom
Bulleit is the high-rye Frontier Whiskey founded by Tom Bulleit in 1987, drawn from his great-great-grandfather's 1830s recipe. The mashbill runs roughly 68% corn, 28% rye, 4% malted barley - one of the highest rye contents among major bourbons.
Mood: Spicy. Rye-forward. Bold.
Sommelier’s note
“A high-rye bourbon with serious cocktail credentials — STAR-K and MK both treat unflavored American whiskey as acceptable; no brand hekhsher was found.”
Tasting notes
Orange peel, vanilla and toasted oak with gentle spice. Caramel and toffee giving way to rye spice, nutty oak and dried fruit. Long, dry and pleasantly peppery.
Pairing
The bartender's bourbon - Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Whiskey Sour, Boulevardier. Steaks, brisket, dark chocolate.
