VSOP means the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend has spent at least four years in oak. Louis Royer has been blending in the town of Jarnac, in the middle of the Cognac region, since 1853.
Mood: Smooth, warm, classic.
Our sommelier says
Serve it in a tulip glass rather than a balloon — the wide bowl blows off the aromatics you paid for.
Tasting notes
Dried apricot, vanilla and toasted oak. Smooth and rounded across the palate with warm spice. A long, warm, oaky finish.
Food pairing
After dinner, neat. Good with dark chocolate and with a strong coffee.
