Rollover To Zoom
Ventura's named flagship - a Bordeaux-style blend the winery saves its top barrels for.
Mood: The anniversary bottle. The Yom Tov first night. The cellar pick that gets brought up for a reason.
Our sommelier says
Deep, dense ruby-purple. The nose is layered - dark plum, blackcurrant, cedar, a thread of tobacco and graphite that says Bordeaux varieties grown on Judean Hills limestone. The palate is full and structured, with fine tannin and the kind of mid-palate density that only comes from low-yield fruit and patient time in barrel. Long, composed finish. This is built to drink with serious food now and to hold in the cellar five-plus years for those who can wait.
Tasting notes
Black plum, blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, graphite. Full body, dense mid-palate, fine structured tannin, oak-integrated. Long, layered, age-worthy.
Food pairing
Standing rib roast, lamb shoulder, braised short ribs, the Yom Tov seudah that deserves the cellar bottle.
