The Merlot in Shiloh's Secret Reserve line — softer than the Cabernet but built the same way, off Samarian hillside fruit and aged in French oak.
Mood: Plush, dark, round.
Our sommelier says
The easier of the two Secret Reserves. Good when the table is mixed between people who want a big red and people who do not.
Tasting notes
Black plum, mocha and sweet spice. Rounded and plush across the palate with soft tannin. A long finish of plum and chocolate.
Food pairing
Roast chicken, brisket, and rich stews. Also good with hard cheeses.
