Rollover To Zoom
Or Haganuz Har Sinai is the winery's port-style dessert wine: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Chassidic cooperative at the foot of Mount Meron, in Israel's eastern Upper Galilee. Grapes are frozen, pressed, and gently warmed by an olivewood flame before barrel-aging outdoors in French oak.
Mood: Deep, sweet, contemplative.
Sommelier's note
"A serious kiddush-style sweet, port on Israeli terms. Cherry, coffee, cocoa, and raisin, weighted but never syrupy. A bottle for the end of a Shabbos meal or a mizmor after havdalah."
Tasting notes
Deep ruby with aromas of raisin, black cherry, coffee, toasted oak, and dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied and richly sweet with plum, prune, cocoa, and a spiced tobacco layer. The finish is long, warm, and gently bittersweet.
Food pairing
Chocolate desserts, kiddush cake, dried-fruit compote, aged blue cheeses (dairy course), pecan pie, or straight in a small glass with dark chocolate after a long Shabbos meal.
