Rollover To Zoom
The Aegerter family Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge is a village-tier Burgundy Pinot Noir from the hillside vineyards above Côte de Nuits proper. Jean-Luc and Paul Aegerter, a father-and-sons négociant house in Nuits-Saint-Georges, source and vinify this wine kosher for Royal Wine's Burgundy program.
Mood: Old-world, elegant, kiddush-serious.
Sommelier's note
"Real Burgundy in a mevushal frame. Red cherry, forest floor, and that signature Pinot Noir silk. The Shabbos bottle when the crowd cares about the wine."
Tasting notes
Ruby with garnet edges. Aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, forest floor, and a light note of mushroom. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with soft red fruit, a savory undertone, and gentle oak spice. The finish is long, elegant, and gently earthy.
Food pairing
Roast chicken, duck breast, mushroom kugel, herbed lamb, grilled salmon, aged cheeses (dairy course). A shining bottle for a Shabbos main course or a yom tov table where guests know Burgundy.
