Rollover To Zoom
The Bourbon Rabbi is Rabbi Chaim Litvin of Louisville, the man the Wall Street Journal nicknamed the Bourbon Rabbi for bringing kosher certification to Kentucky whiskey. This is his flagship pour, a Kentucky straight bourbon drawn from a single barrel and bottled at a bold 115 proof. Certified kosher, and unapologetically full strength.
Mood: Kosher certified, single barrel, cask strength.
Bartender's note
"One hundred fifteen proof and proud of it. Rich cherry, toffee, and old leather with real Kentucky heat. Certified kosher, so you can pour it with a clear conscience."
Tasting notes
Rich amber in the glass. The nose opens with cinnamon, vanilla, hints of dark cherry, and new leather. The palate brings stronger cherry, toffee, chocolate, and a hint of pepper. It closes long and warm, with baking spice and caramel.
Best served
Neat in a Glencairn, over one large ice cube, or built into a stiff Old Fashioned. At 115 proof a few drops of water open it up beautifully.
