Port Charlotte Islay Barley is Bruichladdich's heavily peated Islay malt distilled entirely from barley grown on the island - 40 ppm phenols, matured mostly in first-fill bourbon casks, bottled un-chill-filtered and colouring-free at 50%.
Mood: Smoky, coastal, terroir-driven.
Tasting notes
Aromas of peat smoke, brine, lemon, barley sugar and a whiff of vanilla oak. The palate is bold with campfire smoke, sea salt, honey and toasted cereal. A long, warming, smoky finish.
Food pairing
Pours neat after dinner alongside smoked salmon, aged cheddar or dark chocolate.
