Rollover To Zoom
From Suntory's forest distillery at the foot of the Southern Japan Alps, The Hakushu 12 Year is a crisp, gently smoky single malt aged at least twelve years in the cool mountain air. Bright green-apple freshness meets a wisp of woodsmoke, making it one of Japan's most distinctive single malts.
Mood: Cool forest air.
Tasting Notes
Basil, green apple, and pine needle lift from the glass, wrapped in soft woodsmoke and orange peel. The palate is sweet and layered, pear, mint, and honey giving way to citrus, vanilla, and a whisper of peat. It finishes long and clean, with green tea, bright grapefruit, and a fine thread of oak.
Food Pairing
Beautiful neat or over a large cube of ice, and a natural next to grilled salmon, smoked brisket, or a board of hard cheeses. The gentle smoke also holds its own beside a good cigar.
