Clarksburg, in the Sacramento Delta, is the corner of California that grows the country's best Chenin Blanc — the river fog holds the acidity while the sugar climbs. Picked at 26.5 brix and left with 12.5 percent residual sugar.
Mood: Honeyed, bright, sweet.
Tasting notes
Honey, quince and baked apple on the nose. Sweet and viscous across the palate, cut by a firm line of acidity. A long finish of honey and green apple.
Food pairing
Apple cake, fruit strudel and blue cheese. Also good with foie-gras-style starters and with a fruit platter.
