Rollover To Zoom
Organically grown Primitivo from Puglia's Salento, aged in cocciopesto (crushed-terracotta) amphorae plus French and American oak. Real Southern Italian intensity in a kosher bottle. The amphora is the hook, the fruit is the reward.
Mood: Amphora, intense, Puglia.
"Cocciopesto amphora aging is the real thing, clay porous enough to soften tannin without adding oak, next to French and American barrels for polish. And the Primitivo fruit is Puglia at full volume."
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby-red. Nose of vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, whiskey barrel and dried tobacco. The palate is full-bodied and rich with concentrated dark berry, soft tannins, warm spice and a subtle earthy-mineral finish from the amphora. Finish is long, luxurious and gently sweet.
Food Pairing
A serious Yom Tov red. Pair with grilled ribeye, lamb chops, or a slow-braised osso buco. Also spectacular with aged hard cheeses, hearty stews, and Motzei Shabbos smoked-meat platters.
