Rollover To Zoom
Or Haganuz's semi-sweet, port-style red from the foothills of Mount Meron in the Upper Galilee — a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Shiraz, fermented cold to lock in fruit and rested ten months on oak. Rich, dark, generously sweet. The bottle you reach for at the end of a meal.
In the glass
Deep ruby. Aroma of black plum, fig, and brambly berry. The palate is plush — sweet dark fruit, a touch of mocha and dried herb from the oak, smooth tannins. The 15% alcohol carries the weight; the sweetness keeps it accessible.
From the table
A dessert wine that also plays the role of digestif. Pour with chocolate babka, pecan pie, blue cheese and walnuts, or a slice of dark chocolate after the main course. Serve at 60–65°F.
About the winery
Or Haganuz — Hebrew for "the hidden light" — was founded in 2005 in the village of Or HaGanuz at the foot of Mount Meron, the burial place of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. The winery is run by the community and pours much of its profit back into supporting the local moshav. Har Meron is their everyday sweet red, named for the mountain looking down on the vines.
