Rollover To Zoom
Yzaguirre has been one of Spain's leading vermouth makers since 1884, in the town of Morell in Tarragona, Catalonia. Their kosher edition Rojo is la autentica formula, a full-bodied sweet red vermouth made from 100% Macabeo grapes, ready for a Negroni, a Manhattan, or an aperitivo over ice.
Mood: bittersweet, herbal, aperitivo.
A serious kosher red vermouth was hard to find for years. Yzaguirre solves it, deep, herbal, and unmistakably Spanish. Cold in a rocks glass with an orange peel is all you need.
Tasting Notes
Cola color and full-bodied. The nose lifts caramelized orange, gentle bitter herbs, and a whisper of clove. The palate is sweet and layered, with dark caramel, dried orange peel, warm baking spice, and a bitter herbal backbone. The finish is long and mellow, wormwood and citrus lingering.
Food Pairing
Over ice with a fat strip of orange peel as a Shabbos aperitivo, the base of a proper Negroni, or the sweet vermouth in a Manhattan. Also pairs with olives, aged Manchego, and hard cured meats.
