Rollover To Zoom
Zachlawi Black Arak is a small-batch anise spirit distilled on the Jersey Shore since 2004, built on an old Middle Eastern family recipe. The Black expression pushes the classic arak forward with roasted mocha and vanilla, staying kosher for Passover.
Mood: Bold, mocha, warming.
The finish keeps going — anise leading, coffee and vanilla trailing quietly.
Tasting Notes
Toasted anise, roasted coffee bean and a whisper of vanilla lift from the glass. The palate is rich and creamy, layering star anise over dark mocha with a soft licorice sweetness. A long, warming finish carries subtle roasted notes and lingering anise.
Food Pairing
Serve neat as an after-dinner sipper, over ice with cold water for the classic milky pour, or alongside mezze — hummus, olives, grilled lamb kebabs.
