Rollover To Zoom
Kindzmarauli is the calling card of Georgian winemaking, a naturally semi-sweet red made from 100% Saperavi grapes grown in the Kindzmarauli micro-zone of Kakheti. The sweetness is not added, it comes from stopping fermentation while residual grape sugar remains, a tradition Georgians have practiced for centuries. This is the magnum, built for tables that need more than one bottle to go around.
Mood: plush, dark-fruit, generous.
Pour it slightly chilled. The first sip surprises drier-wine drinkers, lush not sticky, with the acidity to keep things lively. By bottle's end the room will be asking what it was.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby, aromas of ripe black cherry and blackberry jam with a faint floral lift. The palate is round and plush, black-fruit compote, a whisper of dark chocolate, and a soft touch of Saperavi spice. The finish is clean and fruit-driven, gentle sweetness carrying long.
Food Pairing
A natural with sweet noodle kugel, brisket glazed with plum or apricot, dark-chocolate desserts, and aged cheeses. Also serves as a lush kiddush pour for those who prefer something less syrupy than traditional Concord sweet reds.
