Rollover To Zoom
Backsberg's Sydney Back Chardonnay is an unoaked Paarl white — fresh, honest, no barrel makeup. Named for the late Lithuanian Jewish patriarch of the Back family, this is a South African kosher white built for the weeknight Shabbos table.
Mood: Fresh, unoaked, Cape.
"Unoaked Chardonnay done right — the fruit gets to speak, and Paarl's cool nights keep the acidity honest. Mevushal, KFP, twenty dollars. That's a whole solution."
Tasting Notes
Pale straw. Nose of lemon zest, white peach, ripe melon and a whisper of hazelnut. The palate is clean and lively with citrus, orchard fruit, subtle mineral edge and a hint of pear. Finish is crisp, refreshing and gently rounded.
Food Pairing
Naturally suited to Shabbos chicken, baked salmon, sushi, or a dairy pasta night. Also pours well with cold cuts, tuna salad, and a summer Chol HaMoed picnic spread.
