VS is the entry grade of Cognac — the youngest spirit in the blend has spent at least two years in oak. Louis Royer blends in Jarnac, in the middle of the region, and has done since 1853.
Mood: Bright, young, warm.
Our sommelier says
A VS is a mixing Cognac more than a sipping one. It makes a very good sidecar and a better-than-usual brandy and ginger.
Tasting notes
Vine fruit, vanilla and a light floral note. Lively and warm across the palate with a young, fruity core. A clean, warming finish.
Food pairing
Cocktails, coffee, and after a meal on the rocks.
