Rollover To Zoom
Rocca di Frassinello is the celebrated joint venture between Italy's Panerai Zonin family and France's Domaines Baron de Rothschild (Lafite), sitting in the Maremma coast of Tuscany. Their Toscana Rosso IGT is a Super Tuscan-style Sangiovese-based blend, kosher, at estate quality.
Mood: coastal Tuscan, polished, food-forward.
An Italian-French joint venture between Zonin and Rothschild, producing kosher Super Tuscan. Not the bottle you'd expect to find on a kosher shelf, and priced like a compliment.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with hints of garnet. Aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, and Tuscan wild herbs with cedar and a lifted violet note. The palate is full-bodied and polished, black-fruit compote, dried fig, and warm graphite spice framed by ripe silky tannins. The finish is long and structured.
Food Pairing
A serious Shabbos Italian red for pasta al ragu bolognese, roast lamb, brisket with rosemary, or an eggplant parmigiana (kosher). Also excellent with hard aged sheep's milk cheeses.
