Rollover To Zoom
Sydney Back's Pinotage brings South Africa's signature grape into kosher — Backsberg's Paarl-grown, oak-aged Pinotage with the concentrated blackberry-and-smoke character only this varietal delivers. Mevushal for the Shabbos table, KFP for the Yom Tov table.
Mood: Bold, smoky, Cape.
"Kosher Pinotage is a rare beast — and this one gets it right. Real Paarl fruit, real oak, and just enough smoky edge to make it stand out at the Shabbos table."
Tasting Notes
Deep opaque ruby. Nose of ripe blackberry, dark plum, mocha and a whisper of smoky spice. The palate is medium-full with grippy but rounded tannins, layered dark fruit, a hint of tobacco and a signature Pinotage earthy warmth. Finish is long, spicy and satisfying.
Food Pairing
The braai wine — pair with grilled steak, lamb chops, or Shabbos brisket with dark spice. Also solid alongside BBQ ribs, boerewors sausage, cholent, and aged hard cheeses.
