Rollover To Zoom
South Africa's signature grape, in J. Folk's modern, art-pop bottle. Pinotage was born in the Cape in 1925 — a cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault — and this expression shows the friendly, fruit-forward side of the varietal: ripe red cherry, plum, and a smooth, easy hand on the palate.
Mood: Vibrant, generous, smoothly fruited.
"A perfect introduction to Pinotage — none of the smoky, polarizing notes the grape can pull, just lively red fruit and a silky finish. The bottle that earns repeat pours at a Friday-night table."
Tasting Notes
Lively ripe red cherries and plums lead the nose, with a whisper of warm baking spice. The palate is medium-bodied and smooth, with velvety tannins, juicy dark fruit, and a delicate spice lift. The finish is rounded and easy, with a pleasant aftertaste of red berry.
Food Pairing
Built for Shabbos brisket, slow-braised short rib, and grilled lamb. Also handles a barbecue spread, charcuterie, or a mid-week burger with melted onions.
