Rollover To Zoom
Ron Abuelo Añejo is a Panamanian aged rum from the family-run Varela Hermanos estate — aged an average of 5 years in old Jack Daniel's barrels, OU-certified. A serious, honest aged rum at a friendly price.
Mood: Warm, Panama, tropical.
"OU-certified 5-year Panamanian rum at twenty-one dollars — that's a rare combination on the kosher shelf. Great for cocktails, generous enough to sip neat."
Tasting Notes
Bright amber. Nose of caramel, vanilla, dried banana, warm baking spice and light oak. The palate is rounded and smooth with brown sugar, toasted coconut, a hint of dark chocolate and gentle bourbon-cask spice. Finish is warm, mellow and cleanly sweet.
Food Pairing
Sip neat over ice, or build into a Daiquiri, Cuba Libre, Old Fashioned or Dark 'n Stormy. Also pairs with grilled tropical fruit, dark chocolate cake, or a good cigar in the sukkah.
