Rollover To Zoom
The magnum format of Barkan's flagship Platinum Cabernet — Upper Galilee fruit aged eighteen months in oak, bottled non-mevushal in 1.5L for the long Yom Tov table. Gold medals at Catavinum and Mundus Vini back the program; the format does the rest of the talking.
Mood: Bold, layered, occasion.
Sommelier’s note
“When the seder runs four hours and the brisket keeps coming, the magnum carries the night.”
Tasting notes
Blackberry, black cherry, toasted oak, nutmeg, fresh herb, a graphite edge. Medium-to-full bodied with concentrated black and blue fruit, hints of licorice and tobacco, medium-plus acidity, mouth-coating tannins. Long, layered, mouth-filling with cedar and spice.
Pairing
Standing rib roast, lamb shoulder, slow-cooked cholent, aged hard cheese, Yom Tov seuda.
