Rollover To Zoom
Covenant's Mensch Zinfandel is winemaker Jeff Morgan's mevushal red, built from old-vine fruit in a single Lodi vineyard and co-fermented with a splash of Petite Sirah. Barrel-fermented on native yeast, it brings real Lodi warmth and spice to the table at an everyday price.
Mood: Jammy, spiced, generous.
A mevushal Zin with nothing dumbed down. Old-vine Lodi fruit, native-yeast ferment, and enough backbone to carry the whole Shabbos table.
Tasting Notes
Jammy raspberry, black cherry and cracked pepper lift from the glass, edged with licorice and sweet baking spice. Fruit-forward and soft-textured, with brambly dark berry, cocoa and a warm Lodi spice running through a supple mid-palate. Finishes long and rounded, echoing chocolate, herbs and a last note of pepper.
Food Pairing
Made for the Shabbos table. Pour it with brisket, cholent, grilled skirt steak or a pepper-crusted London broil, and it holds up just as well to a hearty barbecue.
