The Grand Vin is the wine that changed how the world looked at Israeli wine — a Bordeaux blend off the terraces at Ramat Raziel, west of Jerusalem, bottled at the estate. The label carries no appellation because Israel has none; it just says Jérusalem, Haute Judée.
Mood: Deep, structured, ageworthy.
Tasting notes
Cassis, graphite and cedar, with a floral lift underneath. Full and tightly structured across the palate, with fine tannin and real length. A long, mineral, cedar-edged finish.
Food pairing
Standing rib roast, lamb, aged beef. A wine for the head of the table on Yom Tov.
