Rollover To Zoom
Hajdu Zinfandel is a small-lot California Zin from Jonathan Hajdu (longtime cellarmaster at Covenant), made under his own Berkeley label. Sourced from old-vine California vineyards, aged in French oak — a serious, dry-style Zinfandel, not a jammy fruit bomb.
Mood: Brambly, jammy, old-vine.
Sommelier’s note
“Real California Zin in kosher form — fruit-forward but dry-finished, with the kind of structure you don't get from supermarket Zinfandel.”
Tasting notes
Blackberry jam, raspberry, white pepper, dried sage, cedar. Full-bodied, dry, supple tannins, ripe dark-berry fruit balanced by a savory herbal edge. Long, spicy, with French-oak warmth and a faint cocoa note.
Pairing
Pulled brisket, barbecue chicken, lamb burgers, stuffed peppers, aged hard cheeses.
