Lunazul
Lunazul is 100% blue agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, and it is one of the few genuinely good tequilas that has never priced itself like a luxury good. If you want agave character without spending three figures, this is the shelf to look at.
Blanco or Reposado?
The blanco is bottled unaged. It is bright, peppery and green, and it holds its shape in a margarita instead of disappearing into the lime. If you are mixing, buy this one.
The reposado rests in oak before bottling, which rounds the edges and adds a little vanilla and caramel over the agave. It is the softer pour, and the better one for drinking slowly over ice.
