Rollover To Zoom
Ben Porat Yossef is Katlav's flagship dessert release, a Port-style Cabernet Sauvignon from Nes Harim, fortified and given six years of oak rest. Made in tiny quantities, this is a limited-release Judean Hills sipper for after the meal.
Mood: raisin, cocoa, meditative.
A small glass at room temperature after a heavy Shabbos meal. The 17% reads as warmth, not burn, and every sip pulls up more raisin, fig, and dark cocoa.
Tasting Notes
Dense, near-opaque garnet pouring almost black at the core. Aromas of stewed black plum, fig jam, dried cherry, and dark cocoa, laced with warm baking spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, concentrated black-fruit compote, raisin sweetness, and soft tannins carry a long finish of chocolate, espresso, and a whisper of alcohol warmth.
Food Pairing
The classic move: dark chocolate desserts, hard aged cheeses, or simple roasted nuts and dried fruit. Equally compelling with flourless chocolate torte, pecan pie, or as a dessert pour in its own right after a heavy fleishig meal.
