Rollover To Zoom
Saint Liberty's Josephine's Flathead River Rye honors Josephine Doody, the "Bootleg Lady of Glacier Park." A 95/5 rye triple pot-distilled in Tennessee, aged 5+ years in new charred white oak, and brought to 91 proof with Montana Rocky Mountain water. Chapter 1 of the Bootleggers Collection — a 30-barrel limited release.
Mood: Craft, historical, spicy.
"A serious craft rye with a story worth telling around the Motzei Shabbos bar. 95% rye keeps the spice front and center; five years in new oak gives it real depth."
Tasting Notes
Deep amber in the glass. Nose of vanilla, lightly charred oak, grilled peach and a whisper of orchard fruit. The palate is creamy with spiced rye grain, sweet oak, dried herb and earthy notes. Finish rides out on sweet vanilla, roasted marshmallow and a lingering warm rye pepper.
Food Pairing
A sipping rye — neat or with a single large rock. Also spectacular in a Manhattan or classic Old Fashioned. Pairs with grilled steak, aged hard cheeses, dark chocolate, or a good cigar in the sukkah.
